Darren graduated with a Physiotherapy degree from Sydney University in 1993 and a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy from Griffith University in 2005. He became a Titled APA Sports Physiotherapist in 2006 and completed a Professional Certificate in Pain Sciences at the University of South Australia in 2019.

Key Career Highlights:

• Australian Defence Force: Physiotherapist on a United Nations Mission in East Timor (2003) and Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Australian Air Force Specialist Reserve (2002–2004).

• Olympic Teams: Physiotherapist for the Irish Olympic and Paralympic Teams during the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

• Bobsleigh Team: Physiotherapist and athlete (driver) for the Australian Bobsleigh Team on international tours (1999–2000).

• Sports Teams: Physiotherapist for Western Suburbs Rugby League Club (2007–2016).

• Private Practice: Previous owner and operator of a successful Newcastle physiotherapy clinic (2001–2018).

• Current Roles: Physiotherapist at Hunter Hand & Upper Limb Therapy and researcher at Newcastle Orthopaedic Research Institute (2019–present).
   

Darren has a special interest in shoulder, back, and lower limb injuries, pre- and post-operative rehabilitation, and pain science. He is passionate about helping patients achieve recovery and continually expands his expertise.

In his personal life, Darren enjoys time with his family, mountain biking, running, boating, and travelling—though he admits fishing isn’t his strong suit!
